R. G. Walton’s award winning oil, graphite and colored pencil renderings are in private collections across the country and have been exhibited in galleries and shows in Fairfax, Virginia, in Salt Lake City and Springville, Utah, in Jackson, Wyoming and in national shows in Lafayette, CO.  Ric holds a BA in Communications with an Art minor and a Master's Degree from the University of Washington.  Over the years he has studied under nationally recognized artists including William Whittaker and Walter Dibble and more recently, workshops with well-known landscape artists David Santillanes, John Poon and Kieth Bond. He is a member of both Oil Painters of America and The Portrait Society of America.

 

“In choosing a medium, I consider the vibrant permanence of oils, the soft warmth of colored pencil, the value range of graphite pencil or the immediacy of water colors.  My interest in the people and landscapes around me comes from the idea that as we pass by people and through our surroundings every day, we rarely pause to really see them. In painting and drawing I look to see and capture the beauty in the complexities and variations of light, value and form. The goal of my portrait work is to capture the subtlety and emotion of the individual beyond a photographic likeness. I look for the person, the individual, and the glow and spark that makes each subject come to life.”​
